Description: Photograph of a parade for the fire department of Stamford, Texas. Men, women, and horse drawn carriages stand if front of the local hardware and furniture stores. Typed on the back of the photograph is, "Stamford's fire department in 1908. Dr. J.R. Sledge (right foreground) was chief. C.L. Meeker, assistant to the chief (left foreground). Dr. Sledge is still a resident of Stamford (Dec., 1936), as is Meeker, fire marshal, and R.L. Penick, who organized the fire department with Sledge in 1900."
