Patent for a car coupling that improves their construction by "providing a link which may be readily directed to the draw-head of a car to be coupled without necessitating going between cars" (lines 12-14).
Cotton Buncher.
Patent for a new and improved cotton buncher. This design utilizes a wheel that "is to press down the plants and weeds that are to be destroyed, so that the plows, whether used along with the wheel or afterward, will cover them up with fresh earth, and thus assist in destroying them, and at the same time cultivating the plants to be retained and facilitating the subsequent thinning process" (lines 62-68).

Ms. Easley was born and raised in Montgomery, Texas. She is the descendant of slaves from the area, and she has traced her lineage back to the arrival of her family in Texas. She attended segregated schools until ninth grade, graduated from Sam Houston State University, and began a successful corporate career in Houston. She returned to Montgomery where she retired. In her interview, Ms. Easley describes life and conditions in Montgomery when she was growing up, her families long history, the way her family sheltered her from the harshness of discrimination, her time at Sam Houston State, political activism, her career, and how Montgomery has changed over time.
Steam Engine Governor.
Patent for a new and improved steam-engine governor. This design consists in "the combination, with the valve-stem and governor-balls, of a lever connected with the said valve-stem, a weighted lever connected with the said valve-stem lever, a piston-rod connected with the said weighted lever, a piston attached to the said piston-rod, and a small cylinder in which the said piston operates, and which is connected at one end with the interior of the steam-chest" (lines 93-102).
