[Swimming Pool, City Park, Marshall, Texas]
Color halftone postcard on textured linen paper showing the swimming pool in the city park of Marshall, Texas. The actual pool, which opened in June of 1938, is not visible, but the view shows the terraced lawn around it, two buildings that probably were the filter house and the changing rooms, and part of a chain-link fence. Up another terraced slope to the pool's left is a log building that was constructed in 1939 as the NYA Community Center. Walls, stair rails, and a light post made of rocks are shown, as well as plantings of flowers in front of the wall. Much of the landscaping and the rock walls and steps were constructed with WPA funds. Printed in the border below the image is the title, "Swimming Pool, City Park, Marshall, Texas. 2B481-N" Printed on the back between the message and address sections is: "Genuine Curteich Chicago, 'C.T. American Art" Postcard (Reg. U. S. Pat. Off.)" The postmark on the back of the card is dated Apr 27, 1946. The typed message is from Eleanor Greene and addressed to Mrs. Alice Holden, Dallas, Texas.
