[Mechanized Cavalry]

Date: 1910/1920
Creator: Walter H. Horne
Description: The military tractor in this post card is towing at least three supply wagons. In this post card two of the supply wagons are loaded with pontoon boats. Pontoon boats were used to help troops and supplies cross a body of water; usually a river and this case the Rio Grande. Pontoon boats would be tied together side by side in a river channel. A temporary bridge, usually made from simple wooden planks, would then be placed on top of the pontoon boats thus allowing troops and supplies to safely cross the river. This post card was not mailed and has no post mark stamp.
