C. P. Schulze, Sr., Home in Irving, Texas

Description: House of Charles Percy Schulze. This house was constructed in 1912 in Irving, Texas. Schulze married Virginia Tucker of Dallas that same year. C. P. Schulze was the brother of Irving's co-founder J. O. Schulze. J. O. returned to their hometown of Iowa City, Iowa, in 1905, leaving his business in the hands of his brother. C. P. Schulze remained in Irving and operated Irving Lumber Company from 1905 until his death in 1957. The Schulze family donated this house to the city of Irving in 1975, and today it is a 1910s-period house museum.

Description: The Trolley as it goes by Standard Park and Standard Pavilion around 1913. The Standard had a swimming pool, ampitheater, dancing and playgrounds. This was quite a popular place. Description: STANDARD WELL AND AMUSEMENT PARK. The trolley operated on North Oak from 1907 to 1913. The Standard not only had a swimming pool, but movie theater and dancing pavilion for the entertainment of health seekers. First known as the Vichy Well and Natatorium, then the Beach, it was torn down in World War II and a USO Club was built here for soldiers at Camp Wolters. After the war the USO building was given to the city and renamed the North Oak Community Center. Efforts are currently underway by the Crazy Water Festival Committee to restore the Community Center.

Description: Photograph of the Household Arts Building's second floor balcony near the south gallery. A few troughs with plants growing in them are visible. The balcony is lined with a metal guardrail. Columns with Ionian capitals support the building right outside the balcony. Other parts of the Texas State College for Women campus including the Science Building are visible in the background. The Household Arts Building was completed in 1913.

Description: Several women near the steps of the Household Arts Building at Texas State College for Women. The three-story brick building has six columns with Ionian capitals. The Household Arts Building was the second largest instructional building erected on the campus of Texas Woman's University. The Legislature appropriated $75,000 for it, and the building was occupied with the opening of the 1913-14 school year. Additions, repairs and changes subsequently may have brought the total cost of the building to approximately $100,000. The building was the home of the Department of Home Economics.
