Description: Patent for a checkrein-holder for harness-saddles that has a hook grooved on one side, a plate or wire inside the groove that attaches the hook to a smaller hook, a link that engages one end of the hook and as connected to a bell-crank lever, the bell crank lever that locks the link into the hook, and a screw bolt for the bell-crank lever.

Description: Patent for a new and improved tug and hip strap attachment for harnesses. This design "relates to an improved tug and hip strap attachment for harness which shall admit of the rapid and convenient attachment or detachment of the horse or horses to or from the vehicle, and which, in case the animal becomes unruly, shall enable it to be instantly detached, thereby avoiding danger of accidents; and it has for its object to provide a device of this class which shall possess superior advantages in point of simplicity, durability, and general efficiency" (lines 22-32).

Strap and Buckle Shield.

Description: Patent for an improvement in strap and buckle shields by having a flat elongated plate which has a longitudinally slot in the center. This shield can be movebly secured on to the strap to admit the tongue of a buckle thus the cross-bar of the buckle will rest upon the shield. By having this shield, the strap is protected from wear that would result from a direct contact with the buckle. Illustration is included.
