Description: Patent for a new and improved stock-collar. This design is "for the purpose of positively and unmistakably identifying cattle and other like stock, and to obviate the necessity of marking and branding cattle, &c., which shall be light, simple, strong, and durable in construction, thoroughly effective for the purposes designed, easily attached to and removed from the necks of cattle, &c., which shall be cheap and inexpensive of manufacture, and not liable to become lost, misplaced, broken, or detached by the animal in its efforts to release itself" (lines 16-26).

Description: Patent for a new and improved head-frame for cattle. This design is "to prevent cattle from breaking down or going through fences" (lines 9-10). To this end, it "compris[es] the bar bearing longitudinally on the face of the animal, bent forward at its upper end to form a hook, and provided with a rearwardly-convex bend near its lower end, the rectangular frame integral with the lower end of the bar, having its sides forwardly convexed . . . and provided with the inwardly-extending arms, the adjusting-bolt connecting the sides of the frame, and the transverse bar carried by the [other] bar and provided with rings" (lines 71-82).

Description: Patent for a new and improved lock-hopple. This design consists in "the combination of the semi-circular section provided at its free end with the latch-hook and concave edge, and the semi-circular section provided with the perforated projection for the attachment of the lap-ring, and with the lock" (lines 95-100). It further consists in "the partition, the cap-piece having the central key-opening, the journaled latch-hook having the end of its journal formed to fit in the recess in the end of the key, the curved double-arm spring, the lid, and the lid-stem having upon it a block provided with the shoulders" (lines 1-8).
