Description: Photograph of an 1896 store building built by Charles Brunson next to his business in downtown Columbus, Texas. The upper front has a metal cornice, brick pilasters framing the windows, brick ledges, and string courses. The lower front has been modernized and is currently occupied by a store called The Bride's House.

1891 Bunson Building Upper Front Detail

Description: Photograph of detail of the 1891 Charles Brunson building in down town Columbus, Texas. The building date is in the pediment near the center of the front of the building. The pediment is part of the metal cornice. The windows are framed by decorative brick pilasters and are capped with decorative metal caps. The wood window frames are arched at the top and sitting on a brick string course and ledger course. The adjoining building to the right was also built by Charles Brunson in 1896.

[Blue Building]

Description: Photograph of a blue building next to the Pines Theater on South First Street in downtown Lufkin. The photograph is of the upper window detail; the window has a dark red brick string course at the top and bottom, with the sides also framing the window in dark red brick. As with many older commercial brick buildings, this one has been stuccoed. The stucco currently is painted blue. Canopy rods and a 1950s-style metal canopy is visible below the window.

Description: Photograph of the 1916 W. O. Latimer building in downtown Paris, Texas. The decorative, bi-colored brick work is ornate, including small pieces of light-colored brick cut and fit into patterns. Paris Texas Gibraltar Hotel

Description: Photograph of post 1916 fire Gibraltar Hotel on the east side of the South Main and Austin Street intersection. The architecture includes red brick, white string courses, carved stone, and white stone trim. The building has the features of a Classic Revival style building, however it has very little carved stone ornamentation.

Paris, Texas Union Station Tower

Description: Photograph the Union Station Depot tower, located west of downtown Paris, Texas on Bonham Street. The tower literally towers over the Prairie-styled, one-story Union Station. The style of the tower, to many, resembles an old Italian-style watch tower.

Description: Photograph of the 1912 Union Station west of downtown Paris, Texas on Bonham Street. This photo was taken from the southeast parking lot. The dormer windows, wide overhang, tower, and white string course of the depot are predominately Prairie-style architecture, popular at time it was built.

[R. M. Clemment Building]

Description: Photograph of the 1916 R. M. Clemment Building in downtown Paris, Texas, occupied by Rosie's Antiques. This building faces Lamar Avenue on Fountain Plaza. The storefront on the first floor is modern while the upper portion of the building is the original brick and white stone, including six windows, each with a lintel support at the top and a white limestone ledge. There is a carved white stone commemorative date medallion on the upper center of the building.

W. V. Wall Building

Description: Photograph of the 1916 V. W. Wall building, located one block east of the Plaza Square on Clarksville Street in downtown Paris, Texas. The store has a glass front with dark metal and a canvas awning which are modern although the canopy hangers are historic. The top of the building is the original brick with a white limestone face block at the base including a commemorative date medallion at the top of the building.

Paris Texas Gibraltar Hotel

Description: Photograph of the upper north west corner of the Gibraltar Hotel, South Main at Austin, in downtown Paris Texas. This building appears to be a style variant of Classic Revival.The building has white columns, consoles, string courses, lentils, and cornice work with added white stone ornamentation, however there are few stone carvings in the photo. The red brick is nicely done with very little pattern work.
