The Handbook of Texas Online. The Handbook of Texas Online is a multidisciplinary encyclopedia of Texas history, geography, and culture sponsored by the Texas State Historical Association. The Handbook of Texas Online features over 23,000 articles focusing on Texas geography, history, and historical persons.

Texas Beyond History. Texas Beyond History (TBH) is a public education service of the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin, in partnership with 13 other organizations. Begun in 2001, its purpose is to interpret and share the results of archeological and historical research on the cultural heritage of Texas with the citizens of Texas and the world. Texas Beyond History is rich in information and resources to help you teach about the past in Texas, using archeology as a lens for discovery. Each lesson can be downloaded and printed for easy use in class. Welcome to the fun and excitement of teaching Texas' cultural heritage and archeology!

The Texas Tides project addresses the needs of educators, researchers, and students for readily accessible primary and secondary cultural resource materials. The Tides web site documents early Texas history (prehistory until A.D. 1900) with an east Texas slant. Phase I of the project features a website with lesson plans for 4th and 7th grade Texas history teachers and students, over 10,000 digitized primary resources, free credit-bearing continuing education workshops for teachers, a virtual reference service, and a fully searchable database of encoded archival description (EAD) finding aids.

The Institute of Texas Cultures is dedicated to enhancing the understanding of cultural history, science, and technology and their influence upon the people of Texas. ITC's Education resource page includes great resources that include a "Kids' stuff" section, Teacher's Tools, Oral Histories Online, and a variety of interactive exhibits focusing on different cultures of Texas, and the newsletter, Crossroads of Culture, for 4th-8th grade Social Studies teachers.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department offers a great Kids Page. Learn about the geographic regions of Texas. Download coloring or activity books that focus on the Texas symbols, Texas Indians, birds, dinosaurs, insects, endangered species, or freshwater fish. There’s also a Resources for Educators tool kit that includes maps, loaner equipment and lesson plans.

A Day in 1800's Texas is a Living History presentation by John D. Potter Jr. of Atascosa, Texas.  Mr. Potters has 30 years of experience in the classroom, and has been a living historian for 15 years.  He's available for presentations at schools, museums or other history events.
