President Norris Hite urges them to approve an
expansion program in North Central Texas. Hite tells
the Regents that the ten county area that includes
Dallas and Fort Worth now has about one-fifth of the
state's population---and that by 1980 the area will
produce nearly one-fourth of the prospective college
students in Texas.
RANSOM TALKING TO REGENTS
Chancellor Harry Ransom explains that the expaxion
program would create a Regional University in North
Texas. The system would include the University of
Texas at Arlington, the Southwestern Medical School in
Dallas and the Southwest Center for Advance Studies,
