one year old next month. And commission chairman Dale
Hinson says although the group has made some progress
in race relations, it still has a long way to go. In
the commissions regular monthly meeting, Hinson
says one of the groups basic frustrations is the
inability to transform what he calls "passive good
will into gutty acts." He urges the commission to
submit a final report to the city council that, in
Hinson's words, "will not be a party to the national
pastime of barricading problems of racial prejudice
beneath a bunch of meaningless paperwork."
Talking with ne n after the session, Hinson says
"this was a bittersweet meeting, one of the best we
ever had." He says the commission hasn't accomplished
as much as he had hoped, but feels there is a vital
need for it's services,
