A 125 thousand gallon tank of caustic soda
goes up in flames at a paper mill near Hous-
ton, and all available fire and emergency
units in the industrial, ship-channel area
answer the danger signal........
SMIOKE AID FIRE
the fire followed an explosion yesterday
at the Champion Paper and giber company in
Pasadena, Texas, ten miles east of Houston.
One man was killed and seven others injured.
Officials of the plant still have not de-
termined the cause of the disaster. Quick
work by firemen prevented a major disaster.

Leaking acid almost set off another ex-
plosion that would have wrecked the area.
