NEW SALT WATER FISH AT AQUARIUM
LONG, FISH TANK
There's a lot of beauty to be seen at Fort
Worth's James R. Record Aquarium but the latest
arrival offers a shocking contrast to it. This
ugly fellow is a Giant Hermit Crab, a sort of
aquatic nere-do-well who spends most of his life
occupying other people's houses. ,Aquarium
Curator Lawrence Curtis says the first thing a
hermit crab does when hatched is to find an
empty second-hand shell (usually one left by a
snail) and move in. As he grows, he looks around
for a larger home, taking squatters rights
without benefit of the FHA or the GI bill. And he
can make quick work of a tasty shrimp.ANOTHER TANK
'.,M Those sea horses in the process of giving
birth to hundreds of young are being g
separated from their children almost as soon asthe young are born.
