Video footage from the WBAP-TV television station in Fort Worth, Texas, covering a news story by reporter Jack Brown about the latest developments following the mass shooting by Charles J. Whitman from the observation deck of the University of Texas tower building. The story begins with Brown on campus in front of the tower building and includes his voice-over narration during a press conference and press tour of the observation deck. The story includes silent footage of vice-chancellor for Health Affairs Dr. Charles LeMaistre speaking to the press, a statement by staff psychiatrist Dr. M.D. Heatly about Whitman's visit at the student health center, a statement by Police Chief Bob Miles about evidence found at Whitman's home, and a statement by Austin Police Officer Ramon Martinez who fired shots at Whitman. Civilian volunteer Allan Crumb shows the towel he waved from the tower after Whitman had been killed. The story also includes footage of the food and other supplies Whitman brought with him to the observation deck, views of campus from the observation deck, and an interview with witness Arno Ebner, a barber at the A-E Barber Shop. The story concludes with reporter Brown on campus and footage of the American flag flying at half mast. This footage is referenced by the script, "Austin," which has not yet been digitized.
