This home movie documents the daily lives and activities of the McNeill Family including birthdays, holidays, and vacations. Footage includes Pam helping her brother Steve McNeill celebrating Steve’s first birthday (00:00-01:06). The McNeill family then celebrates Christmas 1959 (01:06-07:45). James H. Cothran, who was hired to visit the McNeill home as Santa Claus, entertains Virginia and Steve (02:09) and the family opens presents at Virginia’s aunt Essie Ball’s home at 1813 West Hickory Street in Denton. Children, including Pam, ride an electric train in the backyard of the McNeill home on Fulton Street in Denton (07:52-09:54). Pam and Steve pose in their homemade Easter outfits (10:06-11:04). They pose for the camera in their clown and ghost costumes for Halloween (10:06-11:04). The family celebrates Steve’s second birthday in November 1960 (11:30-12:08). At a Christmas celebration, Dennis, Steve McNeill, and Ted McNeill pose as cowboys with candy cigarettes and the family eats Christmas dinner (12:08-14:59). Children including Steve and Pam play with puppies and ride bicycles in front of their home on Fulton Street (14:59-16:31) and Steve celebrates his third birthday in November 1961 with a Halloween-themed birthday party (16:31-18:30). The McNeills travel to San Antonio to visit Virginia’s brother Jack Ball. Footage includes Jack’s place of employment, American State Bank (19:24-20:00), the Alamo and San Antonio Zoo (20:00-26:44), and a visit to a relative’s home. Virginia’s uncle Lee Ball, who founded the family grocery store, is seen smoking a cigar (26:55).
