PLANE CRASH
Investigators of the Federal Aviation Agency hurry to the
Southeast corner of Love Field in Dallas, after a Beech.
craft Bonanza crashed against a chain-..link fence surrounding
the airport. No one was seriously injured in this aftexw
noon 'e crash. The pilot, Jim Haskins, a CBS announcer
from Hollywood, says he was flying with an old friend of
his, 38 year old Charles L. Simmons, of 28..54 Duvall in
Oak Cliff. Simmons was released from a hospital, after
treatment of a shoulder injury.
Police lieutenant George Arnett says he saw the plane
coming in low across Lemmon Avenue, bounce just short of
the runway, and skid into the fence, The pilot told
investigators he began to lose power over Oak Cliff, and
radioed the Love Field tower that he was in trouble,
He said he lost power completely just before the landing.
An FAA investigator indicated the 22,000 dollar plane wouldbe a total loss.
