SOF CONING
Inside the downtown YMCA in Dallas, Sid Henry prepares to
do battle with the Russians, always a weighty problem,. Sid,
an engineer at Ling-.Temco, is one of five American weight
lifters who will leave for Moscow tommorow, to match muscles
with some of the Soviet Union is strongest men. The deal is
sponsored by the state department, and believe it or not,
it is part of the cultural exchange program. The Russian
team visited the U.S, in 1958, and now it =s time to repay
the visit. Sid lifted 1,040 pounds ,last week at Santa
Monica, California, the third time heris hoisted a thousand
pounds or more. With the help of his trainer, J.M. English,
Sid says hers in the best shape ever While attending
SMU in 1956 and 1957, Sid won the National Intercollegiate
Weight-lifting championship in the heavy-weight division.
He says he feels weak- just thinking about the Russian
competition, and the 270 pound engineer
