AFTER OPTIC At the Dallas County Sheriff #s office, four Mesquite
youngsters tell officers they were beaten inside the
barn by a man with a whip. The boys, Don and David
Allen, and Mike and Dickie Singleton, said they went
inside the barn to feed some kittens, they had placed
in the loft two days before. They said they U

whip. When they ran from the barn, they said they
heard two shots. Later, both dogs were found shot to
AFTER OPTIC Farmer Frank Borchardt admits whipping the boys with a
rope, and he also admits shooting the dogs. Aggr vated
assault charges have been filed against Borchardt, and
a companion, 46 year old Vernon Crane, a pressman for a
Dallas newspaper. Borchardt says he hit the boys to
scare them, and he says the dogs were killed because
they had been killing his chickens
