With the temperature hovering around the freezing
mark, firemen from four Tarrant county fire departments
turn out to battle a blaze at the Haverkorn planing
mill in the 56-hundred block of Jacksboro highway.
The mill is in Sansom Park, but units from
Eagle Mountain, Lake Worth and River Oaks join in
fighting the stubborn blaze. The fire broke out
in the two-story frame and concrete block mill
building and spread to an adjacent engineering firm.

John Haverkorn, owner of the mill, says he was
working with an electric saw on the first floor.
He says the saw out off a couple of times, then
flames burst through the ceiling. He and an
