Work resumes in Dallas on dozens of construction
projects shut down for the past three weeks by a
strike of laborers. A settlement of wage disputes
was announced this weekend and workers were asked
to come back on the job this morning. One of the
major projects shut down by the strike was the new
dallas county courthouse. Officials say about
60 percent of the workers were back on the job
today and the rest are expected to report for work
in two or three days. Still unsettled is a strike
which is tying up several obs. But
the plumbers are on the job
at the courthouse under an agreement with the
contractor. The strike cost workers literally
millions of4 dollars in lost wages.
