SMU TRAM 1-1-1-1-1-1-1
An experiment in student transportation gets
underway on the S-M-U campus in Dallas. The
university has taken on approval an eight-thousand
dollar tram and it hopes that the vehicle will
help relieve the traffic congestion on campus.
S-M-U, like must colleges and universities, has
trouble providing enough parking space fof its
students. Parking areas are provided on the
fringe of the campus and the tram will run from
the parking areas to the students center.
University Park Police Chief Keene is one of the
first passengers. He says he suggested the tram
years ago to encourage students not to bring their
cars into the heart of the campus.
