Billies Will Meet
Indians Nxt
Concluding their home schedule
for the current season the fighting
BJUJss will play boat to a hapless
band of Indians from up tha Mc-
Murry way next Friday night.
Up to this time the Indians and
the Billies are tied for honors in
the lowest berth in the standings
with no wins to their credit thus
provoking what promises to be one
most contentious battles of race.
McMurry has played only two
conference games losing both
while the Baker lads have met de-
feat in three championship frays.
Coach Ransom will begin stren-
uous rehearsal Monday In order to
suppply an adequate array of
strength that will treat the fans
with more Billy spirit and fight
and send the luckless visitors home
in no better shape than when they
arrived.
The game will be called at 8:00
o'clock.
Ad Libb Added To
Hill Bfflie Family
At last after five weeks of vain
efforts that much talked of
animal an animal that has every-
thing from F. O. to B. O. neverthe-
less is admired and appreciated by
Daniel Baker students is adorning
the campus surrounding our instit-
ution. In case you haven't seen
or heard him we will tell you that
it is a goat of which we speak.
With long fleecy locks saintly
blue eyes a pleasing bleat plus a
magnetic personality Ad Libb as
he was christened by the students
that effected his arrivel has al-
ready won the sympathy and re-
spect of the majority of the Billy
studes. Ad is not a mean goat
just peace-loving and kind.
George Allcorn is chiefly re-
sponsible for Ad's presence George
got the goat from Ed Coke nearby
rancher for the remainder of the
year. C. G. Logan took the care
of the goat into his hands im-
mediately and keeps it at his
hon.o whon it is not needed at
school.
m
But Coach Ransom
Didn't Have A Band
Few students know just how
great a place is Daniel Baker. Few
members of the student body real-
ize what great personages walk
about its campus. The famous
saying that people are never ap-
preciated at home is true. At least
they are not appreciated by per-
sons at home so much as by those
foreign to the community.
This is the situation that exists
on Daniel Baker campus. Not
nearly enough praise has been
given Coach Shorty Ransom O'Dan-
iel since his political victory. Ev-
erywhere he has been proclaimed
as the man of the moment but
Daniel Baker students Ignore this
fact. That does not faze the coach
tho for he goes about his work
training the Billies just as if he had
never received the honor of being
named governor of the . State of
Texas.
While the coach was in Snyder
recently on a football trip with his
Hill Blllie boys a fellow made a
special trip to town just to shake
O'Daniel's hand. This fellow had
heard that the bus laden with Hill
Blllie boys was stopping overnight
and he hurried down. Shaking the
silver-haired fellow's hand he said
"I never thought I'd get to shake
Mr. O'Daniel's hand."
A few explanations however
brought embarrassment to several
people; for there was no band.
"College bred too often means a
four year loaf made from Daddy's
dough."

Where They Play
With the bigger half of the con-
ference schedule erased from the
ledger Texas Conference teams go
into another round of action next
Thursday night when the Rams of
T. W. C. take on a rested Austin
College team on the Ram premises.
Both teams will be battling for an
upper berth . in the win column
with one win and one loss each to
their credit so far this season.
In what Is heralded as the big-
gest game of the week the Abilene
Christian Wildcats move to Brown-
wood for a melee with the Howard
Payne Yellow Jackets. In confer-
ence play the Jackets have won
four and lost none while the Wild-
cats have won one and lost one.
The game is set for Friday night.
While the fur is flying in Brown-
wood the St. Edward's Tigers will
be playing host to the McMurry
Indians. With no victories and two
defeats to its credit a win would
put the Indians even with the
Tigers who have lost one and won
one.
Last but not least the Daniel
Baker Hill Billies journey to Wax-
ahachle to challenge the offerings
of a high-ridin' Trinity University
team. With three defeats marked
on their slate the Billies will be out
for their first victory; while the
Tigers are second in the race with
two victories and one defeat.
With The Conference
Trinity University The Trinity
Tigers went down in defeat before
a strong East Texas State team
in a non-conference tilt last Friday
night In 26-6 fashion. The game
was played on the Tiger's home
field.
Howard Payne The Yellow
Jackets made it four in a row and
remained at the top of the ladder
in conference standings by ad-
ministering a 7-0 defeat to the Mc-
Murry Indians In Abilene Satur-
day afternoon. It was McMurry'a
second conference loss.
Southwestern The Pirates were
defeated on their rain-soaked field
at the hands of the temperamental
Abilene Christian Wildcats by a
score of 13-0. The Cats pushed over
both tallies in the third period. It
was the first conference loss for
the Pirates and the first conference
win for the Wildcats.
Texas Wesleyan The Rams
opened up in the fourth quarter
with a passing attack to the tune
of two touchdowns to set a strong
Oklahoma Baptist University down
13-0 in defeat when that team in-
vaded the Ram premises in a non-
conference tussle. The Ram of-
fense was paced by Howard Gracey
and Raul Manriquez.
Austin College No game scheduled.

Loss-Fed Billies Out For Win
As Team Meets Tigers Tonight
Billiee Lose Game
To Tigers 144)
In appreciation of the many fol-
lowers and exes who turned out last
Saturday night in celebration of
Daniel Baker's annual home-
coming game the Billies showed
plenty of spirited hustle and fight
against the invading Tigers of St.
Edward's University even though
losing by a score of 14-0.
After a see-saw first half in
which punting fumbling and the
first downs of Robert Dotsh 19
year old Tiger back from South
Bend Ind. were the highlights of
action the Tigers opened the third
quarter with a touchdown when
on a long Billy kick this same
Tiger lad with beautiful blocking
returned from his own 20 for 80
yards and a tally. "Hungry" Trus-
sell charging tackle blocked the
try for extra point
The Tiger's second touchdown
climaxed a 67 yard drive that car-
ried over into the fourth quarter
when Leo Ermis halfback inaug-
urated that period by crossing the
goal line standing up from the 7
yard stripe. The Billies again re-
pulsed the try for the extra digit.
The boys from St. Ed's added two
more on a recovery of a blocked
kick behind the Billy goal to end
the scoring at 14-0.
Though the Tigers went home on
the long end of the score the
Billies left their supporters gasp-
ing with their vicious and determin-
ed fight displayed throughout the
game. Daniel Baker made one ser-
ious scoring gesture in the first
quarter when after successive first
downs that saw Preston Watson
non-tiring halfback repeatedly
toting the leather. The Billies
moved to the visitors 14 yard line
only to lose the ball on downs.
Both teams came out of the bat-
tle without serious injuries.
It was the first conference win
for the Tigers and the third con-
ference loss for the Billies.
Drum BeaU Tell
That Spirit Lives
Games may come and gomes may
go but true spirit reigns forever.
In other words to prove their
staunch and firm confidence in the
powers of the Billies the freshman
again made novel expression by
wielding the old drumstick begin-
ning last Friday night immediate-
ly following a successful bon-fire
and pep rally lasting through-
out the next day until the kick-off.
This is the second instance in
which typical Billy spirit has been
portrayed in this manner. The
first time the weather permitted
the top flight of the fire-escape to
be the sight of the ceremony; this
time however the exploit was
conducted in the North door of
the Administration Building.

Entire Squad In
Condition To Play
Though unsuccessful in ull six
starts so far this season the Billies
plan to change the color of things
in the conference standing when
they pack the saddle and move to
Waxahachle for a conference tilt
with the Tigers of Trinity Uni-
versity next Friday night.
Conceding the "Doc" Is right
and their AU-Amcrican enemy tho
injury plague leaves the Billies
alone this week Daniel Baker will
have a full strength team for the
first time this season. Gene Hop-
per versatile half back that was
sorely missed in the St. Ed's game
when he sat in the stands because
of injuries received in the T. W.
C. game is expected to fill an
opening birth when the whistle is
sounded for the kick-off.
All departments point toward the
Tigers as the favorites in the bat-
tle but Coach Shorty Ransom is
working diligently on blocking and
skull drill to polish off an attack
capable of upsetting the old dope
bucket.
The Tigers will have with them
a heavy charging line flanked with
an aggresive alert backfield. A
bit of razzle-dazzle is expected in
their San Miguel bidding for All-
Conference back and Chancey
Lockard rangy end.
Coach Ransom will depend on
consistant ground gaining plays
and the arm of Preston Watson to
make the visit to Waxahachie an
unpleasant one for the Tigers.
The probable starting line-up for
the Billies will be: "Red" Adams
re; Jack Davenport rt; "Talpa"
Thompson rg; Leo English c; W.
Lee Howard lg; Hugh Trussell
It; and Billy Stewart lc. Jim
Snodgrass Preston Watson Alonzo
Bittick and Gene Hopper will com-
pose the backfield.
The. kick-off is slated for 8:00
