Traditional German customs
decorations and refreshments
were enjoed by members of the
German Club at their annual
Christmas party Dec 7.
Wayne Crawfoid president of
the club was master of ceremon-
ies Grant Northcutt opened the
program with a reading entitled
"The Angel of Nucmburg" which
told of some of the characters
associated with Christmas and
their relation to the method of
Yuletide celebration in Ger-
many. Jack Pflug read about some of
the Christmas customs in Ger-
many from a selection entitled
"The Miracle of Christmas"
Jerry Herring and Marvin James
each read a poem written in Ger-
man Joan Barrett sang "O' Holy
Night" after which Milt Chester
read the Christmas Story from
the German Bible.
Frank Lewis told the history
of the manger scene as a Christ-
mas custom The program was
ended by the repeating of the
Lord's Prayer in German led by
Weldon Crowley.
Among the decorations was an
Adventkunz which is a table-
top display which includes a cor.
tain number of large candles
usually four the first of which
is to be lit on the first Sunrinv
in December and the others on
the remaining Sundays until
Christmas This Adventkunz be-
longs to Mrs. Joseph Roemer
who brought it with her from
Germany.
