It's That Timt Again
It's that time again the time when a young man's fancy
lightly turns to what the girls have been thinking about all
year.
The time too at least once every four years when people
throughout the United States begin to think seriously about
politics.
Whether it be Ike's health or Kefauver's chances of win-
ning another primary political news is big news.
On a college campus we are isolated to a certain extent
from the "outside world." But wo must still be concerned
with what's happening on the political front and we must
be participants not merely spectators in the fascinating and
complicated sport known as politics.
Thus far neither side has come up with any clear-cut
campaign issues. But the fun has hardly begun and we can
be sure of a hard-hitting campaign at least from the Demo-
crats who have to use a program to combat a man Eisen-
hower since they have no potential candidates with a per-
sonal appeal equal to Ike's.
If you're 21 or over it's your duty to keep informed so
you can vote intelligently. If you're not yet 21 it's your duty

About God?
Musical Notes

"Why bother nbout God?" one
person could ask. The answer
might be: "I'm so young and I
think there is plenty of time
much later on to bother about
God!" Another person might an-
swer "I not only believe in God
I have a bang-up wonderful
time in the process!"
Another answer: "I feel sorry
for the guys and gals who don't
believe in God it would be aw-
ful lonesome!"
Yet another might say "In a
world like this one I think a
guy's a dope who sits around
moonin' about God! Religion's for
girls and old women. We gotta
have action in this world not
Bible verses!"
What would your answer be?
Would you or could you answer?
Is there a God? Can anybody
prove it?
Yeah! How did the universe
get here? Nature? Well how did
you get here? Can you truly be-
lieve that this enormous universe
with all the trillions of stars can
hang up there and move around
in regular patterns in all that

control behind it?
Do you care to bother about
God? Do you want to think about
God at all?
Isn't about time that more
kids become personal with others
about this business of bothering
about God? Why not strive to
know? Why not strive to know
and dare to believe?

is eternal!" Joy Casseaux.

It's said a practical politician is the one who finds out
how the crowd is going then rushes to the front and yells
like the dickens. Let's choose instead to be real leaders
the ones who influence others rather than join them.
o
War or Ptact?
The last four issues of the War Whoop have contained
comments on the subject of whether war is morally wrong.
The contributors of an editorial and three letters have stated
their views either for or against war.
What no one seems to realize is that there are two sides
to the question. We may agree that war is wrong irrefutably
and undeniably wrong; yet there could arise an occasion
which would convince us that in this case at least there must
be an exception.
The United States may very well hold in her hands the
key to peace. We say we do not want war but our actions
many times fail to back up our words.
Peace can exist only when there is a will to peace. The
whole theory of the United Nations is that the great powers
really want peace. This explains some of the UN's apparent
failures: no organization can prevent war if its members
want war.
If we are to achieve peace we must work for it con-
structively. We must acknowledge that war is imminent but
not inevitable. We must have a desire for peace and the
courage to display our desire.
Our nation's recent offer to reduce our armed forces to
three million men if Russia will do the same may be a be-
ginning toward an intelligent program for peace. We rather
doubt it.

Everyone's getting engaged lat-1 tiful so he'll love her; dumb so
ly. Well nearly everyone. Guess
it's natural what with Leap Year
and all.
Take my suiter Carol for in-
stance. She's lovely . . . she's en-
gaged . . . she uses ju-jitsu.
Speaking of Leap Year . . . it's
said that women's styles may
change but their designs remain
the same. Sounds logical!
Actually it isn't at all hard to
catch a man. All it takes is mon-
ey personality good looks and
a Cadillac. And most men prefer
girls beautiful but dumb beau-

she'll love him.
It doesn't pay to be quite as
dumb as some girls I've known
though. Like the one who thought
manners were little fish that swim
in brooks and that trigonometry
is when a lady marries three men
at the same time.
Believe it or not I speak from
experience. I had a boy friend
once. I almost swooned every
time he took me in his arms and
told me how wonderful he was!
I was luckier than a friend of
mine though. She got married.
She starting by sinking into his '
arms and ended with her arms
in his sink.
In spite of it all I have only one
statement to make regarding mar-
riage I'm fer it! And so to all
the to-be-weds Congratulations!
