The Comptroller's Military Service Records contain a receipt
of the payment of Canfield's passage from Vera Cruz to Galveston,
February 14, 1845; the Public Debt Papers record his discharge
on August 12, 1851, and certify back pay owed him for his Mier
service at $797.oo.6
