Southwestern Historical Quarterly

Meetings
The semi-annual meeting of the Texas State Historical Association
will be held on Saturday, October 17, 1970, in El Paso. W. H. Tim-
mons, Department of History, University of Texas at El Paso, is in
charge of local arrangements. The Association's annual meeting will
be held at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel, Austin, March 11-13, 1971.
The American Association for State and Local History will meet
in Kansas City, Missouri, September 23-26, 1970. The Organization
of American Historians will meet in New Orleans, April 23-25, 1971.
The Western History Association will meet in Reno, Nevada, Oc-
tober 8-io, 1970o.
Accessions
The Arizona Pioneers' Historical Society in Tucson has acquired
the Henry and Albert Buehman Photographic Collection. This col-
lection consists of over 140,000 negatives and prints dealing with
western expansion from 1873 to the early 1950's.
The Manuscripts Division of the Library of Congress has announced
the acquisition of the papers of Oveta Culp Hobby, Texas politician,
publisher, and wife of Governor Will Hobby.
The Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University has recently
acquired 25 file drawers of records relating to the Swenson Land
and Cattle Company. The papers include the records of the Spur
Ranch from 1885 to 1911, and complement the Spur Ranch papers
already in the Southwest Collection.
Baylor University's Texas Collection has acquired one of five known
copies of a set of resolutions drawn up by the men of Hood's Brigade
on January 24, 1865, expressing the brigade's loyalty to the Confed-
eracy, their admiration of Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee, and
their determination to continue the war. This copy is signed by B. F.
Fitzgerald, who later became president of Baylor Female College.
