The Kate Broocks Bates Award
for Historical Research
$2,000
The Kate Broocks Bates Award will be granted annually for the
best book on Texas history prior to 1900. More recent history
may be included if it is clearly related to the research about the
earlier years.
Submissions must have been published within the two years
immediately preceding February 19 of the year of the award.
Submissions must be well researched and documented.
A copy of your entry should be mailed to each of the three
judges and to The Library of the Daughters of the Republic by
December 31, 1989. Addresses will be supplied upon request.
The Award will be presented at the Association's Annual
Meeting in March. Should the judges decide that no entry
meets the requirements they may withhold the Award. For
