Students at Hardin-Simmons
University and McMurry College
also will be invited to join the socie-
ty because those schools do not have
chapters of SPJ Marler said.

itiation fee and continuing
members must pay a $25 member-
ship fee each year.
The major advantage to member-
ship in SPJ is in finding entry-level
journalism jobs because SPJ "of-
fers services and contacts to help in
the job search" Marler said.
Members of SPJ easily can trans-
fer their membership to professional
status after college graduation but
it is difficult for journalists to ob-
tain membership in the society if
they were not in SPJ in college
Marler said.
The National Convention for SPJ
is Oct. 19-22 in Houston.
Marler said ACU's delegation to
the convention will be selected at
the first general meeting of the
society.
