McKinney Home

Oak Missionary Baptist Church
met in the home of Mrs. V. M. I
McKinney for their regular week- i
ly business and social hour on j
Monday afternoon at one o’clock, i
Mrs. Betty Davis, president, 1
presided over the meeting, and
led in the opening prayer. The
group repeated their motto in
unison.
The secretary, Mrs. Theo L.
Meissner Jr.,, gave a report on the
minutes and a special offering was
made to purchase material for the
church nursery.
Discussion on a membership
drive and also a visitation com-
mittee and volunteer workers will
take care of these needs. Sick re-
port was given and visits were
to bo made to those who were
reported ill.
Mrs. Lois Baird, the newly elect-
ed teacher, brought a very inter-
esting lesson taken from the regu-
lar mission study book.
Mrs Doretha Taylor dismissed
with the closing prayer.
The hostess served coffee and
donuts to Mrs. Lois Baird. Mrs.
Betty Davis, Mrs. Mary L. Meiss-
ner. Mrs. Doretha Taylor and Mrs.
McKinney.
The hostess for the circle on
Monday. Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. will be
Mrs. Mary L. Meissner.
The steadfast Sunday School
Class of the White Oak Baptist
Church had their regular social
and business meeting at the
Roughneck Drive-In on Thursday
evening, October 8 at seven
o’clock.
Mrs. Doretha Taylor, class
president, called the meeting to
order. She also led in the open-
ing prayer. Miss Nora Lee Fran-
cisco acted as secretary in the
absence of the regular secretary.

purchasing nursery material, a
portable phonograph to play rec-
ords for the children during
church time. Mrs. Roy McMullin
is in charge of the nursery during
the church hour and one night
each month she will be relieved
| by some member of the class to
| attend the services. Mrs. Lois
j Baird and Mrs. Homer Blue are
I the nursery teachers for the pres-
i ent.
The Steadfast Class is the young
1 adult class and Mrs. Carrington
! is their teacher. E. B. Carrington
is the young men's class teacher.
The class plans are to have one
family night in each Sunday
School quarter. The class will
past week end in Fulton, Ark.,
visiting with his sisters and
brothers.
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Nettles are
vacationing around Daisetta and
other coastal towns of Texas, and
they plan to do some deep sea
i fishing.
The many friends of C. E. Davis
regret to hear that he is seriously
! ill at his home.

Texas coast. He plans on visiting
with some school boy chums there
I and also do some deep sea fishing
from Texas City.

of Pasadena, Texas, visited with

afternoon.
Mrs. T. L. Idom is visiting with
her son and family in Sacramento,
Calif. She plans on visiting there
for three or four months.

patient at City Hospital but is re-
ported doing nicely at her home
Miss Nora Lee Francisco was in
Dallas over the week end. She
was visiting with friends and do-
ing some shopping.
Little Patti Kay Richmond is
a permanent house guest in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rich-
mond. She was born at Markham
Hospital Wednesday night at 11:57.
She is the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. G. C. Ott. Patti Kay is
