Editor and business manager positions of Howard Payne's
student publications are now being taken by Tessica Martin
chairman of the board of publications
Deadline for submitting an application is noon May 3.
Applications must have at least a 2.0 grad point average.
Journalism experience is not required although it is preferred.
Foundation flick
I "The Return of the Pink Panther" starring Peter Sellers
will be shown Monday May 1 in Mims Auditorium by Student
Foundation.
Tickets are $1.75 in advance and $2 at the door.
Delta Chi Rho car wash
Delta Chi Rho will sponsor a carwash next Friday April 29 at
the Standard Station next to the T.G. and Y. Auto Center from 9
through 4 p.m.
Cost is $2 per car.

ded 10 new members to its membership roll.
Spring pledges accepted into membership include Michele

Sparks.
Timberlake reelected
Terri Timberlake has been reelected president of Delta Chi
Rho. Elected vice president was Janet Sheppard.
Other officers include Sarah Carper secretary; Charlene
Sanders treasurer; Mary Roberts historian; and Andrea
Akins chaplain.

Room board

Tuition room and board at
Howard Payne are going up
beginning June 1. Tuition will be
increased by eight dollars from
142 to 50. Room rent will be
increased by $20. and food costs
will be increased by $25.
Increased rates
won't have too much
effect on students
here if they apply
for financial aid.

increase is necessary to offset
the rising costs of utilities food
salary increases other
operational costs however
they emphasize that financial
aid is available. Eighty percent
of HPU students are currently
receiving some sort of financial
aid but students must apply for
it. Officials also said that in-
creases are in keeping with
other Baptist schools and
private and public institutions.
Few surprises offered in
Tuesday's class elections
There were few surprises if
any in Tuesday's clan elec-
tions. Moat of the candidates
ran unopposed and if there was
any suspense it was wondering
which write-in candidate would
emerge the winner. But even
that has become routine.
In the freshman class Daniel
Cianeroa easily defeated Donna
Danz the currant class vice
president Cisneros potted N
percent of the vote to Danz's 31
percent Karen Wooden Lori
Nut and Sonya flhroadtr wart

secretary and treasurer
respectively. They were all
unopposed although Nix ran a
write-in campaign.
In the freshman senate race
one incumbent returned and one
was defeated. Kim Capp s was
reelected with II percent of the
vote. Ted Miller another in-
cumbent took 31 percent The
two other winners were Mike
Puryear (74 percent) and
Melissa Roberts (M percent).
Wooden defeated Daniel
Hartt and Laura McKinnay in
the race for the Student Union
Board rsprosontattvo-at-large.
She took SI percent to Hartt's Si
percent and McKinney's 17
percent
Randy Skinner was elected
Senior Class President in the
Junior elections. Paul Johnston
was elected vice president and
Andrea Akins was elected
senator. Both Johnson and
Akins won on write-in cam-
paigns. Skinner was unopposed.
Juanell Watte and Dale Edens
were elected president and vice
president respectively of next
year's Junior dais. Debbie
Laabo was elected secretary on
a write-in campaign and Doug
Wheeler and Leesa Heuy ware
elected senators alio on write-in
campaigns.
