HPU places at meet
Senior Stuart Burleson
paced the Howard Payne
track team last weekend in
the UTSA Roadrunner In-
ternational held in San
Antonio.
Burleson came away
with a fourth place finish in
the long jump at 21-11
and tied with teammate
Wade Goddard in the high
jump with a leap of 6-6 to
earn another fourth place
showing.
Averion Hurts recorded
another fourth place finish
for the Jackets in the shot
put with a toss of 50'-3.
Discus thrower Jeff
Neal had a season's best of
155-9 to take sixth place.
Howard Payne's top per-
former in the running
events was middle distance
runner Andy Johnson.
Johnson's time of 14:50.3 in.
the 5000 meters enabled
him to capture third place.
James Knapp had a per-
sonal best in both the 1500
meters at 4:04.8 and in the
5000 at 15:37.0.
The Jackets also earned
eighth place finishes from
Paul Wright in the 400
meters with a time of 51.0
and from Shane Perkins
who recorded a 15.4 in the
110 high hurdles.
Jonathan Harper had a
strong leg on the 400 meter
relay team to guide them to
a fifth place finish.
