Notes

Photograph of 613 N. Fowler taken from the road. Photo was taken for the Historic Resources Survey of Palestine, Texas 1989-1991. This modest 1-story frame dwelling typifies a common vernacular house in Palestine’s older residential neighborhoods. Although porch changes detract somewhat from the property’s historic character, the building nonetheless is a good example of an L-plan house. Though this house appears to date to the turn of the century, it does not appear in the local city directories until 1935-36 (earlier, “613 N. Fowler” referred to the house next door – 615 N. Fowler). Thus, the early occupancy status of this house is unclear. In 1935-36 the house was occupied by August J. and Dorothy Campodonico; Mr. Campodonico was a fireman for Missouri Pacific. By the early 1940s, Ferrell Lamb, a supervisor at the Palestine Sanitarium, lived here.
