UNEXPECTED NEWS TIPS also make for more excite-
ment in the life of an editor One afternoon Dr Lloyd D

the editor that he had a scoop a great idea for a story "Just

ANOTHER PHONE CALL might come from some de-
partment head asking to have a special reporter detailed to
him as if the War Whoop had enough staff reporters to
assign them to following faculty members around all day
The next minute someone complains because his story
did not get on the proper page of the paper or the spot on
the page where he thought that it should be
Helief at last only five more minutes before the War
Whoop goes to press and someone stops by the office and
asks if it is too late to get a story m this week's paper . . .

An unusually intelligent group of individuals is being
suppoited by the unetimglj righteous Methodist Student
Movement to publish a glouoush free speech editonal sheet
If any courageous person would voice his opinion he
may do so anonymously if he wishes so that his classmates
cannot take issue with him on his point of view Of course
the article must be responsibly wntten oi else the editonal
board will reject it but othetwise anj controversial issue
may be approached if it meets the dignity of the editorial
boatd
In the article one might submit he should include scath-
ing temarks about social clubs the warped editonal policy
of the War Whoop and the lack of good food in the library
books between the pages But he should never mention the
full athletic scholarships nor the invincibility of the Relig-
ious Life Office because if God is for a cause who can be
against it to paraphrase a quotation
If anyone has an opinion contrary to school policy then
he should certainly send it to the nameless paper and never
let the school sponsored paper see it for the administration
might censor its use in the War Whoop But the editonal
board of the editorial page (for editorials is its only ingredi-
ent) will let anything pass if it is expertly based on proof
no matter how misleading or illogical it may be
Some week that documented article which a person
submitted may not get published because the editorial board
had too much "copy" a newspaper term meaning wntten
material or thought another subject should be considered
in that issue then he could cross the palm of the editor
whomever that may be with six quarters so that he may
see his article in print
It is hoped that the weekly editorial sheet will stimulate
many persons on the campus to new heights of intellect and
responsibility by printing controversial anonymous articles
Look for it but not on this newsstand'
