will be the theme of Tarleton's
1976 Homecoming when exes
return to the campus for the
annual celebration on Nov. .6.
Joseph Chandler '30 and Henry
Todd '35 will be honored as
Tarleton's 1976 Distinguished
Alumni. E.A. (Doc) Blanchard
will be recognized as the 1976
Distinguished Faculty Member,
and C.J. (Red) Davidson will
receive the first Distinguished
Friend of Tarleton award.
Also to be honored at
Homecoming will be the classes of
1926, 1966, and 1976.
Homecoming activities get
under way on campus Thursday,
Nov. 4 with the traditional drum
beating and continue with the
bonfire on Friday night.
The parade will begin at 9:30
Saturday morning and run down
West Washington Street through
downtown Stephenville. The
Alumni Association Business
Meeting will follow at 10:30 inOctober, 1976

Distinguished Alumni Luncheon
scheduled for 11:30 in the Dining
Hall. Game time is 2:30.
Distinguished Alumnus Joseph
Chandler has practiced law in
Stephenville since 1935 when he
graduated from the SMU School
of Law. He graduated from
Tarleton in 1930.
Chandler was instrumental in
Tarleton's drive to become a
four-year institution serving as
chairman of the Tarleton Steering
Committee during the legislative
sessions of 1955, 1957, and 1959.
Chandler served as president of
the Tarleton Alumni Association
during 1947-48. He was also
president of the Stephenville
Chamber of Commerce in 1950,
the Stephenville Lions Club in
4945, and served on the state
Democratic Executive Committee
from 1950-52.
He was a member of the Board
of Directors of the State Bar of
Texas from' 1955-58 and aNonprofit Org.

on Higher Education from
1963-65.
In 1959, Chandler was awarded
the Junior Chamber of Commerce
Award for Outstanding Citizen of
Stephenville. He was given the
Agricultural Appreciation Award
by the Tarleton Agriculture
Department in 1969 and also
awarded an honorary membership
into the Tarleton Future Farmers
of America in the same year.
Chandler was married to the
former Christine Newsom in
1938. Their children are Mrs.
William LaFont of Plainview,
Randolph Chandler of
Stephenville, and Mrs. Dale Brock
of Fort Worth.
Henry Todd is the president of
Todd & Sanders, Inc., a Wichita
Falls oil company. He went to
Tarleton from 1933 through
mid-term of 1935.
While at Tarleton, he lettered
three years in football and was

$6.26 MILLION FINE ARTS COMPLEX--The Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System gave architects Jarvis, Putty and Jarvis the go
ahead on Sept. 28 to develop final designs for the Fine Arts Complex planned for Tarleton. The Board appropriated $240,000 for the final designs. The
target date for completion of the structure is summer 1979, with the complex to be constructed on the northwest corner of the main campus.t. I
