The Band will perform at the

at noon on Monday and carry the
crew to n 7.30 concert in the

ditorium An all-night bus trip
will carry the band to Flagstaff
Arizona where they will pla

Wcdnesdny is Fun Day as the
students will drive to the south
rim of the Grand Canyon and
spend the day sightseeing there

day when the band begins a
working trip home The band

certs in Doming and Las Cruces

its upcoming tour to New Mex-
ico nnd Anzonn 'I he dunce be-

per person

Theatre to
Give Friday
Performance
The Texas Opera 'I hentcr w ill
"bring opera to the people" by
presenting Dan Pasquale
sung in English and featuring a
full-scale opern with complete
sets costumes nnd an 18-piccc
chamber orchestra at 8 p m
Friday in the Civic Center
The Texas Commission on
Arts nnd Humanities has
granted $2000 to the city of
Abilene to help stage the per-
formance and the opera will be
jointly sponsored by McMurry
College Abilene Christian and
a group of interested Abilene
citizens
C William Horuood will be
serving as musical director and
conductor of the Texas Opera
Theater's production of Don
Pasquale
The comic opera is sung in en-
glish and is designed to intro-
duce opera to the entire family
nnd is directed by Frnnk Cor-
snro Corsnro has tuken the witty
Italian story of a pompus old
man Don Pasquale who is de-
termined to woo nnd wed u girl
half his age nnd set it in Puerto
Rico in the 1920s
There is much comic intrigue
in the opern with the old
bachelor Don Pasquale plan-
ning to mnrry the sister of his
best friend Dr Mnlntesta How-
ever Don Pusquule's nephew
Ernesto proves to be a thorn in
the old man's side
Although Don Pasquale has
chosen n wealthy and beautiful
lady for Ernesto to mnrry the
nephew wnnts to marry n young
widow Norma Don Pnsqunle
threatens to disinherit his
nephew if he mnrnes the girl
When Dr Mnlntesta finds out
he plots with the two young lov-
ers to pass Nonnn off as his sis-
ter nnd hnve her engnge in n
mock mnrnage with Don Pas-
quale with the help of the
doctor's cousin n notary
Nonnn makes Don Pnsqunle's
marriage miseinblc und the trio
succeeds in proving that "there
is no fool like an old fool "
