toward graduation many arc
reminiscing over their years at

have fond memories of their days
as college students.
Several of the seniors were
asked what they would remember

Lanz claims MSG
will not keep quiet
By SANDRA WHITE
Phil Lanz the newly-clcctcd
President of the McMurry Stu-
dent Government has some defi-
nite ideas of how our student
government should be handled as
well as ideas of how everyone can
become involved.
Next year promises to be an
innovative year for McMurry and
Phil hopes to help bring about
many of these changes.
The job of MSG President is
mainly to represent the students.
Phil will be the voice of the
students as well as the go-between
for the students and the
Administration.
The President is also the head
of the Planning and Implementa-
tion Task Force. This task force
reviews school problems and
proposes ideas for change. The
President is also in charge of
appointing people to committees
such as the Supreme Court.
Phil's goals appear tough due
to what is seen as a lack of
cooperation with the Administra-
tion. However he will see to it
that the student voice is heard
and perhaps through diligence
change will come.
Phil wants to be involved with
the planning of the new dorm and
the pool so that they will.be done
well. Many times in the past
renovations have been made but
done poorly" Phil says. These
jobs only had to be redone and the
cost was much higher than if it
would have been done right in the
first place.
Phil also wishes to extend
library and student center hours
so that they may serve the
students better.
Perhaps Phil's biggest goal is
to get every student involved.
This includes on-campus tradi-
tional and non-traditional stu-
dents alike.
friends will be my fondest me-
mory. Holly Davis: My relationship
with McMurry itself is what I'll
remember. To me McMurry Is
more than just a school or a home
away from home. It has become a
very loving friend.
Laura Anglin: The two things
I'll remember most are Pi Delta
Phi and Homecoming. Enough
said.
Bill Wagner: There are lots of
things I'll remember. During my
Freshman year the football game
against Austin College that Mc
NEW MSG PRESIDENT PHIL
In an interview Phil stated
"every student pays the MSG
fee. Therefore every student
should gain something from
MSG." He also wishes to not just
follow what has been done in the
past. He feels students may want
something different and the acti-
vities should not be based on
previous practice but rather what
Murry played for the title was the
best game I've ever seen! That
whole year seemed exciting!
I lived in Gold Star and lived
through a fire there. It made
everything on the fourth floor
smell like smoke for days! There
were fights in the hall there was
an IHR Viking Raid that caused
the cops to have to come and lots
of other fun stuff.
I'll never forget when my
roommate Rick Nason and Dr.
Sontag caused an explosion in
lab. I'll also remember the late
nights in club and eating at the

is desired now.
McMurry is finally planning on
expanding and improving. These
changes must be made with
student involvement and Phil is
prepared to jump in and speak for
the students even when what he
has to say is something the
Administration doesn't want to
hear.
Pancake House.
Sarah Case: I'm overwhelmed
at the friendships I've made. I'll
think of them and the joy I find in
Chanters. We have a special bond
when our concert comes together.
I'll also remember that night
when Kyle McCowen died. I
didn't know him well but 1 felt
the sadness through others.
There was such a strong bond of
love and a feeling of loss through-
out the whole campus
