Science Teachers Frighten Me
They always have.
They show concern
For Bunsen burners
And beakers and the nerds
In the class who love
Bunsen burners and beakers.
I have not had a teacher
Of Biology, or Chemistry,
Or Physics, or Geology
That even knew my name,
Except for my high school Life Science
Teacher, whose daughter I dated.
I never took her daughter to the
Museum or to the zoo,
But I did take her to the park.
We lay in the bed of my pickup truck
And looked at the stars. Astronomy
(Or is it Astrology?) in action.
I did not do well in
Life Science that year.
Here’s what’s next.
