S Smith placed In nomination Hon
L A Carlton for temporary chairman
and on motion Mr Carlton was elected
temporary chairman by acclamation
W C Morrow placed In nomination
Mr J J Moore of Osceola for tem
porary socrctary and he was unani-
mously elected and Mr Krum Kirk
Patrick wan elected asslitant secretary
without opposition A resolution of-
fered by Hon T S Smith that the

visable In the purcrase of nil sup-
plies and furnishing by the cities and
counties of Texas wherever practical
be believing that such prefrtence for
goods of home manufacture would re-
tain millions of dollars In Texas whtch
are now bOng sent out of the state

morning a farmer was held up and
robbed of 1 In cosh and his watch
by two negroes In East Dallas near
the Union depot He reported his loss
to Policeman Massie and later one
of the negroes was aeeu but he ran
and would not halt when called upon
The officer Mrcd his pistol and the ne
gro believing ho wus shot fell In a
pool of water exolalmlng Im killed
Im killed He was taken to police
hendquarters and locked up
Tho farmer could not Idontlfy the
prisoner and he was n leased
This afternoon O Ulcer Bridges ar-
rested Richard Fox n negro on the
charge of using abusive language Fox
Is suspected of being one of the ne
groes implicated In tho robbery and
Is held at police headquarters
