Mrs. Glenn McCommon New
President of Circle 11,111
On December 9, 1974, Circle II
and Circle III of the United
Methodist Women met in the
home of Mrs. Glenn McCommon,
president of the Womens Society,
for a Christmas party. It was also
the last meeting of the year.
Mrs. McComman’s home was
beautifully decorated throughout
in the traditional Christmas
theme.
On entering the spacious living
room the first thing that caught
the eye was the Nativity scene
all in white ceramics and made
by Mrs. McCommon’s daughter.
The focal point was the green
Christmas tree, adorned with red
ornaments and red bell shaped
lights. On the coffee table among
other decorations were four
golden angels dancing,
suspended above four white
lighted candles.
Mrs. Fay Denson was in charge
of the Christmas program, and as
usual she presented an in-
teresting program assisted by
Mrs. Felix Bays reading several
Christmas poems. Mrs. Fred
Chancellor led the group in
singing Christmas songs. Mrs.
McCommon conducted a quiz
game that brought out much
laughter.
Mrs. B.F. Bounds let the cat
out of the bag by telling the name
of the new president for 1975 and
1976, Mrs. McCommon. We were
delighted to hear this. Mrs
McCommon is a very nice person
to work with. Mrs Bounds also
told each one the Circle they
Yule Tidings
would be in for the next two
years. This was a little sad, but
as we work so close together, all
were pleased.
Gifts were exchanged, opened
and exclaimed over.
Mrs. McCommon invited us
into the dining room. The tea
table was covered with a
beautiful green nylon net cloth
with appliqued Christmas
designs. A large bowl of fruit
centered the table flanked by
Christmas candles carried out
the Christmas decor. The table
was laden with sandwiches,
home made cookies, nuts and
mints. Mrs. Ralph Butler
presided at the silver tea service.
Mrs. O.H. Patterson and Mrs.
Dee Moody assisted Mrs. Mc-
Common in serving the other
delicacies.
As her guests were leaving,
Mrs. McCommon asked all back
for another Christmas party in
1975. All left thanking our hostess
for such a pleasant afternoon,
happy that she was to be our
president for another year.

Dolph Briscoe says.
The report came from the
governor’s liaison office in
Washington, DC., where Ford
has proposed reducing federal
expenditures for the current fis-
cal year by $4.6 million.
Briscoe sent a memorandum
to all state agencies, asking
them to evaluate by Dec. 19 the
impact of the cuts on their pro-
grams.
He said those analyses of the
spending reduction would be
used to “make the members of
the Texas congressional delega-
tion aware of its impact on
Texas.”

Alot of people
think die fuel shortage
is owe
A lot of people aie wrong.
Too many people think the
fuel shortage ended when the oil
embargo was lifted. So they’re
back to their old ways of high
energy consumption. Lifting the
embargo may have eased the
situation. But it didn’t end it. The
truth is, gas and oil are still in
short supply.
Electric generating plants
are particularly affected by the
continuing shortage of natural
gas, one of the fuels needed to
generate the electric power you
use every day. The more
electricity you use, the more fuel
we need. The bigger the demand
for fuel, the higher the price.
We’d like to ask you to
please continue making a habit
of using electricity wisely. Good
energy habits are too important
to neglect.
