Area Dairy Herds
Post High Averages
BRATTLE BORO, Vermont —
Dairy herds of Registered Holstein
Cows in this locality have estab-
lished new lactation averages for
milk and butterfat production. As
reported by the Holstein-Friesian
Association of America, the offi-
cial production tasting herd aver-
ages »re:
Billy S. Bradlty, Dublin, has 17
completed production recoris aver-
aging 14.802 lbs. of milk and 539
lbs. of butterfat.
Wyette D. Jumey, Dublin, has
16 completed production records
averaging 13.833 I os. of milk and
503 lbi>.' $f butterfat.

for comparison of Registered Hol-
stein herds, lactation averages are
reported on the industry standard,
two milkings per day. $p6-day,
mature equivalent basis. These
production levels compare favor-
ably to the average U. S. cow’s
annual production of 7,500 lbs. of
milk and 275 lbs. of butterfat. Re-
cent USDA information shows th^t
all Holsteins on DHIA test have
an annual production average of
12,392 lbs. of milk.
Texas A. A M- University sup-
ervised the sampling and produc-
tion testing procedures in cooper-
ation with the official herd test-
ing programs of the nationol Hol-
stein Association.
