Water polo, played by eight men in
rdurTfjat botor boats, will offer thrills
for the spectators around the yacht
basin ltt front of the clubhouse. Tbe
game is played with an inflated bail
and polo clubs. Instead of fast ponies
the players are mounted on fast out-
board motor boats. Upsets and col-
lisions furnish the thrills.
Motor boat racing w4ll be conducted.
Under the supervision of officials of
the Mississippi Valley Powier Boat As-
sociation. The timing, .will be official
-over, a measure^ cdurse tuid records
ngule win be accepted as.official by
the uatlonul association. • '
The first of tbe fast races will be
started 't 9 o'clock Saturday morn-
ing. The early hmtr was selected to
assure the drivers of smooth water
over the course just north of town on
Laguna Madre. Racing will he going
on both mornings until noon. At 1
o'clock the water polo wtill start. Then
there will be exhibitions of water ski
ridina behind motor boats, surf board
riding and other stunts.
At 3 o'clock tbe cot boat races will
start over a six mile course, Tbe race
Saturday will be tbe final beat of Ihe
cup races this year. The catboat rac-
ing Pundoy will be done hy profession-
al sailors. Motorboat racing will be
started at 9 o’clock Sunday twornlng
also.
Some time durtug Ihe day the coast
guard crew will give demonstrations
of surf boat drll) and life saving at
sea.
Special rales huve been granted over
4he railroads and all Valley citizens
have been invited -to the first annual
regatta here, which is expected to draOf
thousands.
