Introduced
Texas teachers have experienced it is
believed that the Alpine school will
meet with the general approval of west
Texaa educators.
The state law sayjs: "Teachers whose
certificates are to be extended and
held valid under ithe provisions of the
law shall in no case have their certi-
ficates extended and continued valid
unless said teachers shall have faith-
fully attended the county teachers in-
stitute for four days each year and also
attended for not leas .than 20 full days
each alternate summer a summer nor-
mal institute in some county in Texas
during the validity of their certifi-
cates." Teachers in the western portion of
Texas are greatly inconvenienced by
this provision although the regulation
is recognized as just and necessary. By
the union of several counties only can
an effort at holding a normal promise
such results as will justify an endeav-
or which will insure success. Such a
union has been perfected with El Paso
Presidio Jeff Davis Pecos Terrell
Ward and Brewster counties and prac
tically all the territory between San
Antonio and EI Paso will be united in
lending a helping hand to the success
of the normal to be conducted at Alpine.
By the union of a broad territory
and the promise of a large attendance
Alpine has been able to make provision
for this work which at once Insures
success. The best material of the state
has been secured for the faculty. Super-
intendent F. M. Martin of the El Paso
city schools is to conduct the work;
superintendent Arthur Lefevre Dallas
will be a member of the faculty and
Hon. F. M. Bralley state superintendent
of public instruction will contribute a
lecture course to be given in connection
with -the normal. A faculty of eight
teachers has been chosen and all grades
of work will be iaught each department
being in the hands of a teacher thor-
oughly competent to make the work in-
teresting. The local committee is busy making
every necessary preparation for the
comfort and pleasure of attending
teachers A dormitory hotels summer
and private homes are abundant and
convenient to the school campus in
pvhlch teachers will find pleasant homes
and board at a very reasonable rate.
The 35000 school building is being
completed and equipped and will be
ready for occupancy before the normal
opens. This building is thoroughly
modern in every detail and undoubtedly
one of the best lighted and ventilated
buildings in Texas.
The normal will open June 13 con-
tinue six weeks and will include pri
mary intermediate high school and
normal work leading tor all grade cer-
tificates. Special advantages will be of-
fered those who wish to take any of
the modern languages.
Tuition for the term is five dollars
payable on entrance and one dollar ex-
tra for those who wish to take the
examination for certificates. This fee
will give free admission to a lecture
course of both general and particular
Interest consisting of six lectures one
during each week of the normal's continuance.

GLASS TRUST HEADS
UNDER INDICTMENT
A'ceused in Federal Court of
Controling Pricre of
Window Panes.
Pittsburg Pa. April 8. The Imperial
Window Glass company Incorporated
In West Virginia and 16 officials and
directors were Indicted by a special
federal grand jury late Wednesday on
three counts.
The Indictment charges conspiracy in
the restraint of the hand-blown win-
dow glass trade in the United States;
engagement In illegal competition and
an attempt to monopolize Interstate
trade.
A week ago United States district
attorney Jordan announced that fed-
eral officers had completed a three
months Investigation of the glass in-
dustry and would present to the grand
! jury evidence that the corporation had
violated the Sherman anti-trust law.
The officials of the Imperial Window
Glass company named in the indictment
are: President iTyron L. Case of
ilaumee O.; vice president 3L J. Heal-
ey Bradford Pa.; treasurer J. G.
Sayre Tklorgantowft W. Va.
The secretary of the company J. H.
Johnston of Pittsburg was not named
In the Indictments. - He appeared as
the principal witness for the govern-
ment and may It is said be granted
immunity. He produced before the
Jury a mass of books papers letters
and other data. The presentment how-

mony of a number of other witnesses
who had been summoned from many
western cities.
Method of Conspiracy.
The indictments set forth that the
company has from the beginning acted
as a selling agency and has prevented
competition "by persuading and In-
ducing corporations partnerships and
Individuals in the window glass trade
to enter into contract with the agency
to sell their entire outputs of hand-
blown window glass" and that "the
defendants were able to establish fix
and maintain arbitrary unreasonable
and non-competitive prices for win-
dow glass greatly in. excess of prices
that would prevail if said defendants
had not engaged In unlawful conspiracy."

OX HOTEL REGISTERS
Students of auto signatures can find
no better place to tudy nniure than over
a hotel register. Men and means are
glaringly demonstrated there in tho
rarest stroke of the pon.
A traveling man came 4o El Paso a
few days ago and deigning to use a
pen stamped his name and business ad-
dress on the register of the hotel. "W.
H. Bishop" it read "Manufacturing
agent Harrisburg Pa." And he was not
a handless traveling man either.

Often you hear the housewife remark that articles being served
did not taste as they should and immediately the ecnk gets the
blame while it should go to the butcher or the grocer. There is
no need of scolding the cook or discharging her. The question-
can be easily solved by buying meats groceries vegetables and
fruits which the cook recognizes to be the best. There is no longer
an argument as fo where the best meats groceries vegetables
teas and coffees come from. It was conceded long ago that Na-
tions not only kept the best of everything but that they kep the
largest assortment. There is nothing that gives more satisfaction
than a juicy and tender steak and nothing gives us more pleasure
than to receive such orders for we have that kind of meat in
abundance. It could not be done unless we had placed a large
number of cattle on feed. Range cattle regardless of price are
tough and coarse. You cannot realize the difference between our
meat and that which other markets sell until you have enjoyed
one of our steaks.
