of Rotan schools. E. T. Powers '31 is
principal. Others teaching there are

Sgt. L. B. "Scat" Russell '41, has
gone from Camp Barkeley to offi-
cer's training school at Fort Benning,
Ga.
Wanda Mae Clements '37, visited
her parents for several weeks this
fall. She is a member of the Pasadena
Playhouse.
Sgt. Wayne Lowe '38, has been
transferred from Camp Bowie to
Camp Barkeley. He is with the 31st.
medical regiment.
Ingersoll Jack Roberts is receiving
basic training at Randolph Field, Tex.
Pvt. Malcolm McPhail '41, has writ-
ten that he is "somewhere in India"
where the climate reminds him of
West Texas. He says that they did
not know where they were going until
they got there. Most of their food is
very good since it is prepared and
canned in the United States.
Rev. and Mrs. W. R. Derr '30, are
living in Abilene. Rev. Derr is teach-
ing for a short time at Hawley. Mrs.
Derr, the former Edessa Kuykendall
'22, taught Spanish for several years
in H-SU.
Fernetta Foley '40 has resigned as
educational director at the First Bap-
tist Church in McAllen, Texas.
Ruby Mitchell '25, is Mrs. Lloyd F.
Harris, 3606 Rawlins Street, Dallas,
Texas.
Dr. Mildred Hanna, formerly of
Quannah, is now practicing at Glen
Rose, Texas. Her sister, Mabeth '22, is
Mrs. Lee Dodge, also of Glen Rose.
Ethel Cook '04, is Mrs. Hall Robin-
son of Tahoka.
Rev. Claude Gooch '39, is pastor of
the First Baptist Church at Chilli-
cothe.
Lela Meeks '40, is Mrs. J. T. Gro-
gan, 6435 Calmont, Fort Worth, Tex.
MARRIED: Margaret Hall '37, of
Dallas, and Lt. Louis A. Hauptfleisch,
)f Fort Bragg, N. C. The marriage
took place in Dallas at the Church
of the incarnation.
The Brewer twins, Eula and Ila,
'42, are teaching in the Sylvester pub-
lic schools.
Rev. R. A. Scranton '17, has accep-
ted the pastorate of the First Bap-
tist Church of Sonora, Texas. He was
formerly pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Big Lake. Texas.
Rena Belle Hatchett '21, is now
Mrs. Henry Carney. Her address for
the duration is 1742 Merchant Street,
Abilene. Her husband, Dr. Henry Car-
ney, is with the Harvard Medical
Unit and has been in England some
months., They have a 14 year old
daughter, Barbara Jean, and a 12
year old son, Jack.Ralph "Peter" Day '41, is with the
9th Division, Naval Air Station, San
Diego. Calif. A note from Peter's
mother tells us that Peter, L. A. Par-
rish '41, Ted Hull '39, and Mr. and
Mrs. John L. Wilson '40 (Janet Co
ier '88) have bad several sessionsMarried: Mary Alice Brooks, ex. '40, and
Lieut. Donald K. Bush, on Saturday, Dec.
19. in Abilene. The couple is making their
home in Abilene. Mary Alice is a former
member of The Cowgirl Band.
Ensign Aaron Grant, '39, received his
wings at Pensacola on Oct. 16. He has since
reported for duty somewhere in the South-
west Pacific. Aaron is one of the finest
tenors to ever be graduated from H-SU.
Ensign Harper Van Ness, ex. '38, has
been placed aboard a destroyer somewhere
in the Atlantic. After leaving H-SU,
Harper graduated from Annapolis.
Congressman George Mahon, ex. '24 of
Colorado City and Washington, D. C., was
the main speaker for the first graduating
class of bombardiers at the Big Spring
Bombardier School.
Joedene (Joe Allen) Propst, '41, is sing-
ing with Irving Berlin's "This Is The
Army." This show is the "hit" of all army
productions, and present plans call for a
trip to Hollywood, and then probably to
England.
Lieut. Fred Wright,, ex. '37, former Cow-
boy Band man, has just graduated from
the Army Air Forces School at Miami
Beach, and has reported for active duty at
Atlantic City. Between assignments, he
married Billie Mae Buster of Abilene.
Bobbie Copeland '42, has resigned from
her church work at Shawnee, Okla., to be
back "close to home." Bobbie is education-
al director at the First Church in Stamford,
Texas.
Lieut. Jack Cartwright ex. '40, has been
transferred from West Point, where he was
an instructor, to the twin-engined Army
Flying School at Columbus, Miss.
Frances Morrison, ex. '40. will become
the bride of Captain Philip Baird on New
Year's Day.
Lieut. Andy Shelton, ex. '37, has received
orders to report to Camp Howze, Texas for
duty. Andy received his bars in Dec. from
the Fort Sill training center.
Married: Edwina Walker, ex. '39, for-
mer soloist with The Cowgirl Band, and
Lieut. Joel Wilcox. The wedding took place
in Sweetwater on December 13.
Brooks Peden, ex. '35, army aviation ca-
det, is nearing completion of his course in
pre-flight school at Maxwell Field, Ala. He
will be a pilot.
Ensign Wayland "Fuzz" Lewis, ex. '41
is stationed with the naval air corps in Ft.
Worth.
Rev. Blonnye Foreman, '23, Missionary
to Brazil for fourteen years, is a popular
speoker throughout lite sowthwest. He has
returned on a furlough.Married: Truett Rattan, '42, and Ivaughn
Veazey, ex. '42. The wedding took place on
Dec. 5. Trueett is in the military service.
He is a former all-conference tackle. Miss
Ivaughn is a former entertainer with th
