Affairs of the Association
The Director shall be an ex officio member of the Executive Council.
The Executive Council shall meet at least twice each year. At such
meetings five shall constitute a quorum.
No member of the Executive Council shall serve more than six years
continuously unless he be elected to the officer body.
ARTICLE VI. DUES: Each member and each Corporation Member
shall pay annual dues in an amount to be fixed by the Executive Council.
Members or Corporation Members will be dropped from the rolls for
non-payment of dues.
Life Members, Sustaining Members, Patrons, and Honorary Life
Members shall be exempt from all annual dues.
ARTICLE VII. PUBLICATION COMMITTEE: A Publication Committee
shall consist of no more than ten persons (including the Director and Pres-
ident) selected by the Director from the Fellows or from members of the

shall be the Southwestern Historical Quarterly. In addition, the Association
may undertake such other publications as shall be recommended by the
Director and by the Publication Committee and concurred in by the
Executive Council. The Editor of the Quarterly shall appoint such Associate
Editors and Editorial Assistants as necessary. It is the responsibility of the
Editor to insure that the material for the Quarterly, including materials for
the Review Section, and all other publications shall have a bearing on the
history of Texas.
ARTICLE VIII. AMENDMENTS: Amendments to this constitution
shall become operative after being recommended by the Executive Council
and approved by two-thirds of the members present and voting at any
annual meeting; provided, that notice of the proposed amendment shall be
given in the announcement of the meeting at least thirty days prior to the
ARTICLE IX. COMMITTEES: Special committees may be appointed
by the President to facilitate or carry out the work or program of the Asso-
ciation. The Executive Council may create such standing committees as
it deems necessary.
ARTICLE X. As revised, this Constitution shall become effective on
