The fourth annual national Assembly of the Order of the Indian
Wars will be held at Fort Davis National Historic Site, September
15-17. Headquarters for the meeting will be the Prude Ranch near
Fort Davis. Speakers will include Robert M. Utley of Santa Fe, a for-
mer chief historian for the National Park Service and a nationally
known author of Indian war history; Dr. James M. Day, University of
Texas at El Paso; and Dr. Don E. Alberts, Kirtland Air Force Base.

The University Archives at Texas A8cM University has recently
been given approximately twenty-five feet of records of Regan V.
Brown as Texas commissioner of agriculture. Included are newspaper
clippings, audio tapes, general correspondence, speeches, correspon-
dence about speaking engagements, Texas Department of Agriculture
news releases, and publications of the TDA. All materials are dated
1976-1982. The Regan Brown Papers will be available for research
when processing is completed.
Texas A8cM Archives has also received the papers of House Speaker
Bill Clayton. Included are all of Clayton's papers from his service in
the Texas House of Representatives, 1962-1982. The papers are con-
tained in approximately 280 permafile boxes and 38 large scrapbooks.
