A poll tax receipt is a requirement for toting in Texas for all persons 21 to 59 years old
Persons 60 years old and oter are allowed to vote without the poll tax receipt. However, it is
necessary for such person living in a city of 10 000 or more population to obtain an exemption
certificate from the County Tax Collector The poll tax is $1 50 for state purposes, of which
$1 goes to the available public school fund and 50c to the general revenue fund A local poll
tax of 25c is permissible making the maximum $1 75POLL TAX BY YEARS.
