In announcing my candidacy
for County Superintendent of
j schools, I wish to state that my
ambition is to be promoted in the
school profession and to be of
more service in the field of 'Edu-
cation. Having been solicited by
many friends who are deer y in-
terested in the progress of our
! schools, and after due considera-
tion of the responsibility rested in
this office. I have consented to
make the race.
I have completed three years
college work in the North Texas.
State Teachers College. I hold a
State Permanent Certificate. I
have taught four years in the ru-
ral schools. During the last four
years 1 have been employed as a
teacher in this County, and it has
been my purpose to study the
schools and learn their needs.
If elected to the office for which
I aspiite, my determination in to
give the best ihat I have in faith-
fully discharging my duty in a
way which will be profitable to
the Stonewall County schools and
creditable to myself. My inter-
est and ability will be devoted to
the welfare and growth of our
schools, I hope to serve in buch
a way that no one will have
cause to regret having entrusted
this work to my cave.
Your careful consideration is
solicited with the assurance that
I will appreciate ail favors shown
me in the July election subject'to
the action of the Democratic Pri-
mary.

H. Vf. Caldwell Dies
On Wednesday morning at an
early hour Mr. H W. Caldwell
who had been ill for about 10 days
of Bronchial Pneumonia, passed
away. He had the distinction of
being the oldest man in the Coun-
ty, as he would have passed his
92nd year had he lived a few
more months. He was a Civil
War Veteran, enlisting m Mo
Hia wife preceded him to the
better world a number of years
ago. He leaves two children,
Mrs. ft. A. Oaks of this City,
with whom he has made his home
for years, a son, Manley Caldwell
of Long Beach. Calif.
Mr. Caldwell was a consistent
member of the Methodist Church
Pastor R. S. Watkin* conducted
the funeral services
The Star extends sympathy to
trie bereaved.
Miss Mattie Hight left Sunday
for Anaheim, Calif. Later news
stated that she and Carl Jackson
were united in marriage Wednes-
day morning.
Miss Hight is the charming
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F.
Hight and is well known here.
Mr. Jackson has been in Calif,
for the past four years has rather
a renumerative business being un-
abie to leave for the full trip
home, met Miss Hight about GO
miles this side her destination
carried her to the home of bis sis*
ter, where they were married.
The bride was later escorted to
a nicely funished home that was
prepared and waiting for her.

I feel like no stranger in com-
tng. before this people as 1 have
lived here for the past eleven
years. Have taught school in the
(Y.untv for six years. Am now
Leaching my second term at Mt
Pleasant. By way of recommend-
ation will state that I have never-
taught at any place that has not
offered me the school again.
This is my first time to ask for
an office at the hands of the pub-
lic, but promise if elected to do
my very best to conduct the af-
fairs pertaining to this office in
an honest, faithful manner.
On account of my school duties
at present will not be able to see
all of you for some time but hope
to talk personally with each and
everyone before the election.
I will appreciate your vote and
influence and any favors you can
offer in my behal|t f his election.

Mrs. I. R. Duke who has been
in ill health for some months, is
now in th«> Sanitarium at Abilene.
We hope to have a good report of
h<T progress, and a speedy recov-
ery to her wanted health.

Mr. Earl E. Senter announce#
to the voters this week that he is
candidate for the office of County
and District Clerk of Stonewall
County, subject to the action of
the Democratic Primary in July.
Mr. Senter is a fine young man
well known to moat of the voters
of the County having been born
here and has lived most of his 24
years among us. He is a gradu-
ate of Aspermont High School,
class of 1921 In 1922-23 attend*
ed A & M College. He feels in
presenting his name before the
public for the first time that be
is well qualified to render faithful
and efficient service. His busi-
ness experiences since leaving
school have been such that he
feels wonld enable him to easily
familiarize himsell with the cleri-!
cal duties of the office. ;
You will do well to consider
carefully his claims before casting
your vote.

James Browning of the Bryant
Link Co. store returned Friday
from Nashville, Tenn., where he
had been attending a Convention
of Methodist Young people. He
reports some four or five thousand
delegates in attendance and a
host of visitors were present , also
a very enthusiastic meeting.
Mr. Browning visited with re-
latives before returning home.
