est in politics- But still the main
I topic of conversation is Oil-
%
One Stonewall County man
ndaid he was walking down the
: street and passed a group of men
• nd heard the words Brown-
Frazier and Alls mentioned. So
he went back and asked the
i question. Brown. Frazier and
Alls? Is that the name of a new
1 drilling company?
For the complete election bal-
lot for Stonewall County read
this issue of the Star- Each pre-
cinct and voting box will have
a separate ballot, but this sam-
ple ballot has all the names that
will be on any of the ballots in
the county-
Study this ballot and deter-
mine ahead of time how you
want to vote-
Since Saturday is the day of
the primary and many know
very little about the state
didates. we are express ;m:. :<
.preferences. If you have >•■> ;•
sonal choice we would appreciate
you voting for these men as we
think they are good men and
could serve the state in a capa-
ble manner-
For Governor we think Allan
Shivers deserves an elective
term. Caso March is a good man
but see no cause for giving up
a man of proven ability like the
present Governor - one of Tex-
as' best-
For Lt- Governor we likr
Preston Smith, a Lubbock busi-
ness man who has done an out-
standing job in the legislature.
Reed. Viek and Morris are also
men of outstanding ability, but
we West Texas people should
stay with a good West Texan.
For Supreme Court place 1 we
like Fagan Dickson.
Supreme Court place 2 Rob-
ert Calvert seems like a good
man.
For Supreme Court place 3 we
are for Judge Griffin- His moth-
er is one of our best friends and
a very fine West Texan. Judge
Gri-ffin is a West Texas judge of
outstanding ability. He is serv-
ing by appointment and well de-
serves an elective term.
For the court opf Criminal ap-
peals Hobart Nelson- former
district attorney from Tahoka
and former State Senator is our
.choice-
For Agricultural Commission-
er we thing Charlie Me Lei I an is
the best chance to boat the in- |
cumbent J K McDonald. Local
people who know McLellan rec-
otnmend him highly-
For Congress naturally we will |
Slav with George Mahon- one of .

And now we know.^A good
way to be run out of the county
and that is to continue this any
further. As far as the district
and county and precinct offices
we certainly would not meddle
with them since you have had
an opportunity to get acquainted
with these men-
In several district arid county
races we have more than one
very good friends in several ra-
ces and we have been trying to
■figure out a way to vote for all
of them- That is the sad part of
voting is that in order to vote
a full ticket we are going to be
forced to scratch the names of
some friends, but the law says-
we can only vole for one in each
office-
One Stonewall County man
said this week he thought all
the defeated candidates should
get together late Saturday night,
pool their resources buy. half a
chicken and through a barbeque
for their friends-
Note to George Kenady and
Charles Branch -- be sure to have
in stock a good supply of As-
pirins about ten o'clock Saturday
night for all us defeated candid-
ates-
Guess Who
This week we have in mind an-
other Stonewall County pioneer
although he does not live in the
town of Aspermont- He is a pros
perous farmer in the Johnson
Chapel community. A few years
ago he and his wife had their
Golden Wedding anniversary. His
name--both givi n name and fam-
ily-- is one of the most popular
of American names-
