We (or rather the boys) are having quite an interesting time at the "Kangaroo Court." Meets every Saturday night. We girls were very respectfully solicited to attend on last Saturday night. The boys were so kind as to send a note to each and all of us, stating that they would be very much pleased to accompany us to the Kangaroo Court on the 24th of May. Of course, we accepted with the greatest of pleasure. They tried George Prim for stealing a chicken. John Prim was witness against George. The defendant plead not guilty. We had two splendid speeches. One from Willie Holderness, the defendant's Lawyer, and the other from Stephen Moure, the county Attorney. They made a real nice thing out of it. Entertained the crowd very well indeed. They cleared George. Part of it was right solemn, and part quite funny. I think it is worth any one's while to attend. The Spelling has played out, and am really glad they have something to keep up life in the neighborhood, for it seems like it is almost dead or near death's door. Last Sunday was a big day at Oakland. It was the day, yes the day of the "old Baptist foot washing." A very large assembly met. Some from Sulphur Springs and Black Jack, and other different places. A portion of our company, with us, ate our dinner before we went. Never got through until about three. Began at 11 o'clock. You may imagine I got pretty tired. Two young men came home with us and took dinner. Immediately after dinner, or about a half an hour or such a matter, the crowd started for their homes. After my crowd had gone home, 8 or 10 more came in to hear some music, (if you please.) Of course I pleased and played for them. They remained until late and I went home with Willie and Lizzie and stayed until all the young men bade their Sweet hearts
