that I have answered Bettie's last letter some time ago. On last Monday or Tuesday week, I think it was. I suppose she has received it ere this, if not it is not my fault I'm sure. And I hardly think I'll write another untill she answers my last. Good night, and may the Angels guard and protect you forever.

My most dear and appreciated friend,

Again it is my most delightful privilege of writing to you, a privilege which I prize above all others. Because, first, you are the most punctual of all my correspondents, of which I have eight, and secondly, because ---well, I will be candid, because I like you a great deal better than anyone else, which fact I have told you, untill you are tired I guess. You are so punctual I know when to look for your letters every time. I answer your letters on Sunday or Sunday night, as I am tonight, and receive an answer on the following Thursday week, and if I did not get it that week at least, I would
